Rangers vs Kilmarnock 22/08/20

22 August 2020

Rangers will be looking to maintain an unbeaten start to the 2020/21 Premiership season when they lock horns with Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium this week.

Although Rangers’ 100% start to the new Premiership campaign ended with a goalless away draw with Livingston last time out, the hosts have yet to concede a goal in the league this term. Indeed, all three of their top-flight victories this season have seen the ‘Gers’ leading at half-time, with the previous two producing the identical 3-0 full-time score. The ‘clean-sheet’ theme remains quite significant in the context of Rangers’ home results in the Premiership this calendar year. The current league toppers have won six of their eight league matches since the calendar flipped (D1, L1), shutting out their rivals in all but two of those outings.

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured a dreadful start to the new league season, as they take the field after failing to pick up a single win from the opening four Premiership games (D2, L2). The ‘Killie’ have been an exciting team to watch, though. All of those four top-flight matches have seen both sides on the scoresheet, with three producing over 2.5 goals. Yet, Alex Dyer’s players have been struggling away from home in 2020, pulling off just one win in seven competitive trips since the turn of the year (D2, L4). Additionally, Kilmarnock’s defensive woes saw them concede over 1.5 goals in five of those clashes, which has been true in just one of their last seven competitive trips to Ibrox (W1, D3, L3).
