PSG vs Angers 03/10/20

03 October 2020

Paris Saint-Germain entertain Angers at the Parc des Princes, looking to extend a winning run in their Ligue 1 H2Hs to nine.

The hosts have bounced back from a disappointing start to the season that had seen them suffer two identical 1-0 defeats, putting together three consecutive wins ahead of the kick-off. Indeed, a 2-0 away triumph over Reims last time out now means that all five of PSG’s Ligue 1 results (wins/losses) this term have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. In turn, ‘Les Parisiens’ registered a clear majority (64.29%) of their home league victories last season without conceding a goal (9/14), which has, however, been the case in just half (three) of their six Ligue 1 home wins over Angers overall. Remarkably, though, Thomas Tuchel’s men have bagged over 1.5 goals in each of those six successes, which was true in 85.71% of their top-flight league matches back in 2019/20 (12/14).

Meanwhile, a 3-2 home win over Brest last time out now means that all three of Angers’ Ligue 1 triumphs this season have come via a single-goal margin. On the flip side, both of their defeats since the beginning of the season have yielded a full-time margin of over 1.5 goals. A genuine lack of firepower up front saw ‘Les Scoïstes’ finish the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season as one of four sides to fail to reach double digits in terms of away goals, having netted a miserable average of 0.61 goals per league trip. Their fortunes are unlikely to turn around here, considering Stéphane Moulin’s men have scored under 1.5 goals in all 13 of their competitive H2Hs with PSG so far.
