Poland vs Portugal 12/10/18

12 October 2018

The UEFA Nations League Group A/3 encounter between Poland and Portugal that shall take place at the Stadium Slaski in Chorzow will see the visitors trying to avoid the failure and remain top of the group.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup misery that forced the White and Reds to return home already after the group stage resulted in Adam Nawalka’s immediate farewell and the appointment of Jerzy Brzeczek as the national team head coach. However, the former Wisla Plock manager is yet to secure his first victory in charge, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Italy in the UEFA Nations League opener and the Republic of Ireland in the friendly challenge. The Eagles are poised to achieve their first triumph over Portugal since 2006, with Brzeczek urging his players to move up a gear and get back to winning ways.

On the other hand, after the World Cup round of 16 elimination to Uruguay, A Selecao das Quinas have played out a 1-1 draw with Croatia in a friendly match that took place at the Estadio Algarve although they could have walked away with a victory if there wasn’t for Lovre Kalinic who made a few stunning saves. However, the EURO 2016 winners have started the UEFA Nations League off on the right foot, clinching a narrow 1-0 triumph over Italy in front of the home crowd, as Fernando Santos hope to see his side replicating the same performance in Chorzow.

One of Arkadiusz Milik and Genoa wonder Krzysztof Piatek should partner Robert Lewandowski in the final third for Poland, with Grzegorz Krychowiak and Piotr Zielinski projected to be the ones to feed the strikers. With Cristiano Ronaldo being left out again, Andre Silva and Bernardo Silva should spearhead Portugal’s attack, while Ruben Neves and Pizzi foresaw to hold down the midfield.
