Paris Saint-Germain vs Toulouse 26/08/19

26 August 2019

Paris Saint-Germain welcome Toulouse to Parc des Princes looking to extend their Ligue 1 (L1) winning run against the tough visitors to five games.

Although they’ve started the new season with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Nimes, they’ve sustained a shock 2-1 away loss to Rennes last time out, as their struggling for form continues. Although entertainment has not been lacking in PSG’s games lately, the Parisians won just five of their last 11 outings in all competitions (W5, D2, L4). Ten of those matches have produced over 2.5 goals while nine have seen both teams score. The reigning L1 holders have finished the 2018/19 league campaign without a single home loss (W17, D2), netting 63 home league goals in the process – L1’s high.

Meanwhile, even though the visitors come into this encounter after securing four points in the opening two rounds of the L1 fixtures (W1, D1), it will be a daunting prospect for them to pick up points here. They have not only failed to beat PSG in their last ten league visits here, but they’ve also suffered nine defeats in that sequence (D1, L9). Established themselves as one of the most unprolific French sides since the turn of the year, Les Pitchouns have scored one goal or less in 18 of 21 L1 outings in 2019. Additionally, the Les Violets have failed to secure a win in their last nine L1 trips (D3, L6), scoring under 1.5 match goals in all of them.
