Paris Saint-Germain vs Nantes 23/12/18

23 December 2018

Winless in their last two Ligue 1 encounters, Paris Saint-Germain will take on Nantes at Parc des Princes looking to extend an outstanding 11-game home winning run against the visitors in all competitions.

Arguably one of the best teams in Europe’s top five leagues at the moment, comfortably top the Ligue 1 table as the only unbeaten side in the French top flight thus far. Residing one of three teams that are yet to suffer a defeat at home, the Parisians have wrapped up a maximum of 24 points after their opening eight home matches in the league. Moreover, the reigning champions have bagged 27 goals at home so far, averaging 3.38 goals scored per match, which is an absolute league high. Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s men have conceded just three goals on home soil, keeping a clean sheet five times ahead of this round, more than any other team in the French top-tier competition.

As for the visitors, their drop-off in form in the past four weeks has seen them securing just one triumph in their last five competitive matches. Les Canaris come into this encounter frustrated after a 2-1 loss to Rennes in Coupe de la Ligue round of 16 a few days ago, which was also the third consecutive game in which they’ve conceded at least two goals. Also, Vahid Halilhodzic’s men have been struggling for form on the road this season, having lost four out of eight away clashes while clinching just two wins in the process. What’s more, Nantes have captured only one victory on their previous six Ligue 1 road trips, suffering three defeats during the run, as they still try to keep a clean sheet away from home.

Provisional line-up – Paris Saint-Germain:

Gk: Buffon Defense: Thiago Silva – Marquinhos – Meunier – Bernat – Dani Alves Midfield: Verratti – Diaby – Draxler Attack: Mbappe – Cavani

Provisional line-up – Nantes:

Gk: Tatarusanu Defense: Fabio – Pallois – Diego Carlos – Kwateng – Lucas Lima Midfield: Girotto – Toure – Boschilia – Rongier Attack: Sala
