Paris Saint-Germain vs Lille

One of the most exciting fixtures in the Ligue 1 calendar pits runaway leaders Paris Saint-Germain against Lille at the Parc des Princes.

A 7-0 rout of lower-league Stade Briochin in midweek Coupe de France action extended Paris Saint-Germain’s formidable run to five nine consecutive wins in all competitions, with Luis Enrique’s free-firing unit netting an intimidating 21 goals across their last five outings! With a blockbuster Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool waiting around the corner, PSG could take the field with a mixed line-up, considering they already boast a substantial 13-point lead on second-placed Marseille. ‘Les Parisiens’ entered Round 24 as the only Ligue 1 side yet to lose a league fixture this season (W18, D5) and look destined to add to that tally. Indeed, they’ve only lost one of their last 28 home matches against Lille in all competitions (W19, D8).

In the meantime, Lille claimed an all-important 2-1 win against fellow top-three rivals Monaco last time out to stay within a two-point distance of third-placed Nice. Victories in three of their four most recent Ligue 1 outings (L1) should set ‘Les Dogues’ up nicely for this daunting trip as they bid to win back-to-back away league games for the first time this season following a 2-0 triumph at Rennes. That could prove easier said than done, given that they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet across their last seven league meetings with PSG (D1, L6), including a 3-1 defeat in September’s reverse fixture on home turf.
