Paris Saint-Germain vs Angers 05/10/19

5 October 2019

Backed by a 1-0 away triumph over Galatasaray in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain welcome Angers to the Parc des Princes, looking to post their fifth straight Ligue 1 (L1) home win in H2Hs.

Stubborn defending and the unprolific attack has seen a 1-0 scoreline being the most common result in PSG’s recent competitive games. Four of their last five triumphs across all competitions have ended with that scoreline, with Thomas Tuchel’s side failing to pick up a first-half lead on each occasion. The Parisians have struggled to find the back of the net inside the opening 45 minutes in four of eight L1 fixtures so far, but they’ve prevented their rivals from scoring in the first half six times in the process. Notably, none of PSG’s ten competitive games this term has ended in a draw (W8, L2), and just one of those matches has seen both teams score. But, Angers might change things here, as three of PSG’s four top-flight home wins in H2Hs saw them concede precisely one goal.

Meanwhile, a trip to the French capital comes at a prosperous period for the visitors, who have enjoyed a stellar start to the new league campaign (W5, D1, L2). Sitting second in the table, two points adrift of the Parisians, Le SCO will be desperate to bring a seven-game losing streak in H2Hs to a halt. But, a 2-0 win over Toulouse aside, Les Scoïstes have suffered a pair of defeats in the remaining two L1 trips this term, allowing eight goals while scoring just one across those fixtures. Stéphane Moulin’s men seem to be moving up a gear in the closing stage of the game when on the road, as all three away goals they’ve scored this term came beyond the 85th minute.
