Olympique Lyonnais vs Manchester City 28/11/18

28 November 2018

After a narrow 1-0 triumph over Saint Etienne in Ligue 1, Olympique Lyonnais will take on Manchester City at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, hoping to extend their four-game lossless Champions League run.

The French giants have started the Champions League campaign off on the right foot by defeating the reigning Premier League champions 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium. However, the Kids have failed to live up to expectations in the next three European clashes, having played out three consecutive draws. Bruno Genesio’s players have been held to a 2-2 draw to TSG Hoffenheim at home in their last Champions League game although they’ve had a 2-goal lead midway point through the second half. They have snapped a 3-3 stalemate in Germany against Die Kraichgauer after rescuing a 2-2 tie to Shakhtar Donetsk. Lyon’s main problem this season relates to their defensive performances, as they’ve managed to keep a clean sheet just three times in their previous 15 outings across all competitions.

Meanwhile, the visitors now head to France having stretched their winning run to eight games with a stunning 4-0 away win over West Ham United last weekend. After a frustrating loss to Lyon in the Champions League opener, the Citizens have secured a maximum of nine points in the next three European Clashes, defeating TSG Hoffenheim on the road and demolishing Shakhtar in both legs. The Premier League giants have scored a minimum of two goals in all aforementioned victories, including five they have bagged against the Ukrainian champions last time out. Furthermore, Pep Guardiola’s players have scored 19 goals in their previous four matches across all competitions, while conceding just two in the process. Apart from a 2-1 loss to the French outfit, Man City didn’t concede more than one goal in the remaining 19 competitive outings this season, having kept a clean sheet 13 times during the run.
