Nurnberg vs Borussia Monchengladbach 11/05/19

11 May 2019

Out-of-form Borussia Monchengladbach travel to the Max-Morlock-Stadion to take on relegated Nurnberg side frantically looking to wrap up all three points and keep their chances of securing a top-four finish alive.

The hosts have already greeted Bundesliga as they are heading back to the 2. Bundesliga after a horrible league campaign that has seen them pull off barely three triumphs in 34 fixtures – less than any other side in the German top flight. Unsurprisingly, all three of Nurnberg’s BL wins have come at home although each of them has seen Boris Schommers’ men beating teams from the bottom half of the table. Additionally, Der Club have entered this round of fixtures unbeaten in their last three BL home outings (W1, D2), with both of those draws ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. Only one team has scored fewer home goals than Nurnberg (16) this term, with four of their six BL home defeats saw them failed to find the back of the net.

Meanwhile, a disastrous haul of five points from their last six league games (W1, D2, L3) currently sees the visitors trailing fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt by two points. Monchengladbach’s indifferent road form in the recent period (W2, D1, L2) should also worry Dieter Hecking, especially considering the fact his players have scored one goal or less across all five of those clashes. Also, the Foals’ BL away meetings in 2019 have been short of entertainment, as seven of their eight BL road trips since the turn of the year have featured under 2.5 goals, with four ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline (three in their favor and one against).
