Norwich City vs Manchester United 28/10/19

28 October 2019

Backed by a 1-0 away win over Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League, Manchester United travel to Carrow Road looking to kick-start their Premier League (PL) away campaign against the newly-promoted Norwich City.

Although they’ve picked up only one point from their last four PL outings, the hosts have proved they are no pushovers, especially when playing at home. Carrow Road has been a venue of entertainment so far this season, with all four of Norwich’s PL fixtures here producing over 3.5 goals and seeing both teams score (W2, L2). Also, nine of ten league goals the Canaries have scored to date have come on home turf, with Norwich winning both home games that have seen them break the deadlock. Scoring the opener has proved absolutely crucial the last four times these two sides met here, with the team to open the scoring going on to win at the end (W1, L3).

Meanwhile, winless in their last four PL matches (D2, L2), the visitors enter this round frantically looking over their shoulders, as they sit just two points above the relegation territory. The Red Devils are one of six PL clubs who are yet to win away from home this term (D2, L2), with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men failing to find the net in both of their last league trips. Moreover, only two sides have scored fewer away goals than United (2) so far, as they’ve netted just 20% of their PL goals scored on the road. Particularly unprolific after the break, Manchester United have drawn a blank in all four second halves of the PL away football played so far.
