Norwich City vs Leicester City 29/02/20

29 February 2020

Leicester City will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League (PL) when they take on rock-bottom Norwich City at Carrow Road this weekend.

Nailed to the bottom of the table with a seven-point deficit to 17th-placed Aston Villa, the hosts have lost all but one of four of their previous league matches (D1), drawing a blank in the last three. Norwich’s disastrous form is unlikely to improve here as they take on a side they’ve failed to beat in all three of their previous top-flight H2Hs, with each of those encounters ended separating the teams by under 1.5 goals (D1, L2). For the Canaries, much will depend on whether they can win the first half or not. Indeed, they avoided defeat six of eight PL home matches in which they were leading at the break (W3, D3). Delivering action from the start, Daniel Farke’s men have netted 66.67% (12) of their 18 PL home goals scored in the first 45 minutes.

A quicksilver Leicester side can definitely live up to Norwich’s fast starts, as they’ve scored the opening goal (if any) in nine of 13 PL road trips so far this season themselves (69%). Free-scoring Foxes have netted 28 away goals thus far, with 46% (13) of them arriving in the first-half – only two teams have managed more. Also, Brendan Rodgers’ players have been relentless against the current bottom-five teams, winning five of six such fixtures, with a 1-1 home draw with Norwich the lone exception. Four of their successes across those clashes yielded a winning margin of multiple goals, with three seeing Leicester score over 2.5 match goals. However, the Foxes have suffered a dip in form, failing to pick up a win in their past three PL games (D2, L1), drawing a blank in the last two.
