Norway vs Spain 13/10/19

13 October 2019

Spain travel to the Ullevaal Stadion this weekend to take on Norway looking to extend their six-game winning streak in the UEFA 2020 European Championship qualifying (ECQ).

Sitting two points below second-placed Sweden, the hosts head to this fixture on a run of five straight games without a loss (W2, D3). Interestingly, both of those wins have seen the Lions beat their rivals by the identical 2-0 scoreline, while each of those three stalemates witnessed both sides score at least one goal. Norway’s outstanding 13-game unbeaten home run (W9, D4) in all competitions plus friendlies gives them a huge boost ahead of this match, especially as they’ve kept a blank sheet in seven of their last ten home games. That streak is, however, threatened by Norway’s recent H2H record against Spain (L3), even more by the fact that they’ve conceded 2+ match goals in all of those clashes.

Meanwhile, the visitors sit at the top of Group F as the only team to pull off all six triumphs, and their place in the standings won’t change regardless of the outcome of this match. Ruthless in the final third, the Red Fury have netted 2+ match goals in all of those victories, scoring a total of 17 goals so far. Additionally, Robert Moreno’s players have won four of five competitive away games since exiting the 2018 FIFA World Cup (W4, L1), bagging over 1.5 match goals on every single occasion. But, devastating firepower has not been Spain’s only strength this qualifying campaign, as they’ve conceded a total of just three goals, two of which have come away from home though.
