Newcastle United’s pursuit of their second appearance in the EFL Cup final in three years is firmly on track after a 2-0 win at Arsenal in the first leg of their semi-final tie during midweek. Meanwhile, the Magpies haven’t featured in the FA Cup final since 1998/99, while their last title in this competition dates back to the mid-1950s. They’re odds to reach round four at the expense of fourth-tier Bromley, especially after piecing together a seven-game winning streak in all competitions. Remarkably, six of those seven victories yielded multi-goal margins, highlighting the potential for an emphatic scoreline. You’d expect nothing less from Eddie Howe’s free-firing squad that’s scored 3+ goals in their last four home outings, winning three of them (D1).

In the meantime, lower-league Bromley have blown hot and cold at the start of 2025 (W1, L1), with each league result (win/loss) yielding a three-goal margin. An embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Crewe in the build-up to this trip knocked Bromley down from an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions (W7, D4), which featured a 3-1 away win over Solihull Moor in the previous FA Cup round. That fiasco also spelled the end of their four-match winning run away from home, albeit marking a fifth of their last seven road trips to produce over 2.5 goals. Therefore, it stands to reason the Ravens’ first-ever meeting with Newcastle will be a high-scoring event.
