Napoli vs SPAL 29/06/20
29 June 2020
SPAL travel to the Stadio San Paolo this weekend, looking to post their elusive first Serie A victory over Napoli (D1, L4) and improve their chances of avoiding relegation.
A 2-0 away triumph over Hellas Verona last time out gave Napoli a fourth consecutive Serie A victory, three of which produced a single-goal margin and saw the ‘Partenopei’ score at least once in the second half. However, the hosts have struggled to impress at home over the past seven months, suffering five defeats from seven Serie A games held at his venue since December 2019 (W2). Yet, six of those seven matches produced over 2.5 goals and saw both teams score, with four of those results (win/loss) yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. On the contrary, all three of their previous competitive H2Hs held at the San Paolo have seen Napoli secure a narrow 1-0 victory.
Meanwhile, the visitors, who have sustained six defeats from their last seven Serie A fixtures (W1), enter this round seven points adrift of the safe zone and have lost three of their five previous league away matches (W2). SPAL are used to tight contests, as all five of their last Serie A results have produced a single-goal margin, with the winner in four of them consistently arriving no earlier than the 60-minute mark. Lackadaisical first-half performances have seen ‘Gli Spallini’ net a league joint-low two of nine Serie A away goals scored before the halftime break (22.22%).
