Napoli vs Fiorentina

Title-bidding Napoli and European hopefuls Fiorentina are set to trade tackles in a mouthwatering Serie A encounter at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

High-flying Napoli have reinforced their bid to land their first Scudetto since the glory days of Diego Maradona by winning their last three Serie A games by an aggregate score of 7-3, including a stellar 3-1 victory at Atalanta last time out. Luciano Spalletti’s men head into proceedings trailing table-topping AC Milan by a single point, though their three-game home league form (W1, D1, L1) could spell trouble. Indeed, Napoli have mustered just three victories across their last eight Serie A outings at home (D1, L4). Throughout the entire 2021/22 Serie A season, only once have they lost on the road! Yet, ‘I Partenopei’ can fall back on their impressive H2H record against Fiorentina, having won their last three encounters in Serie A by scoring 2+ goals in each.

In the meantime, Fiorentina’s decent domestic form has handed their hopes of breaking into the top six again a boost as they’ve alternated between victories (2) and draws (2) across their last four Serie A outings. After beating mid-table Empoli 1-0 in their most recent Serie A fixture, ‘La Viola’ could post back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time since February. Easier said than done, as they’ve only won once across their seven previous league visits to Naples (D1, L5). Another huge problem for Vincenzo Italiano is that his men have failed to keep a clean sheet in 14 of their 15 Serie A away matches this season, conceding an average of 1.57 goals in the process.
