Napoli vs AC Milan 13/07/20

13 July 2020

Napoli and AC Milan go head-to-head at the Stadio San Paolo in an arguably most exciting showdown on the Serie A Matchday 32.

The hosts take the field after winning seven of their last eight Serie A fixtures (L1), four of which produced the identical 2-1 scoreline and saw Napoli score the deciding goal in the second half. In turn, all five of Napoli’s last league home matches have featured over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring (W4, L1), with each of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day open the scoring. Indeed, a lack of ability to bounce back after shipping the opener has witnessed the ‘Partenopei’ lost all five of their Serie A home games this season in which they’ve conceded the opening goal. Another potential worry for Gennaro Gattuso could be Napoli’s vulnerability after the break – 65% (13) of the 20 league home goals they’ve allowed this term arrived in the second half.

Fresh from a stunning 4-2 home triumph over Juventus, the ‘Rossoneri’ face a formidable challenge of a Napoli side they’ve failed to beat in eight of their previous top-flight away H2Hs (D2, L6). Notably, six of those clashes have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, which has been true in three of Milan’s five Serie A games since the resumption of football in June (W4, D1). But, except for a 3-0 win over Lazio a week ago, Stefano Pioli’s men have lost all four of their remaining league trips to the current top-six teams. Milan’s hopes of achieving another success will hinge on whether or not they can open the scoring. The struggling Milanese giants lost four of six Serie A away games in which they’ve shipped the opener (W1, D1).
