Nantes vs Olympique Lyonnais 13/04/19

13 April 2019

Rocked by a shock 3-1 home loss to Dijon last time out, Olympique Lyonnais travel to the Stade de la Beaujoire to tackle an out-of-form Nantes side.

Four consecutive defeats across all competitions that have seen them concede seven goals while failing to find the back of the net three times sums up Nantes’ notable drop-off in form. Sitting seven points above 18th-placed Dijon with seven Ligue 1 fixtures left to go, the hosts seem to be on a good way of keeping hold of their top-flight status. Vahid Halilhodzic and his men are not only dealing with a poor run of form, but they also have to cope with the fact they’ve failed to beat Lyon in all 12 of their previous L1 H2Hs (D4, L8). The one thing that can encourage Les Canaris is that 61.29% of their total L1 points have come at home, with four of their last five league wins arriving at this venue. Stubborn at the back but uninspired in the final third, Nantes have failed to entertain local fans in the recent home fixtures, with five of their previous seven L1 home outings featuring under 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, a pair of losses in their last two competitive games has seen Lyon conceding three goals in each while scoring three goals in both clashes combined. Another troubling fact for the visitors is their recent road form, as they’ve managed just one triumph on their last five road trips across all competitions (W1, D1, L3), scoring only one goal in those three failures. Just like Nantes at home, Les Gones have failed to impress in terms of goals when playing away from home, with four of their previous five L1 away clashes producing under 2.5 goals. Bruno Génésio’s men have also failed to score over 1.5 goals per match in five of their last seven competitive away games, finding the net in the first half just twice along the way.
