Monaco vs Nantes 13/09/20
13 September 2020
Monaco will be looking to post a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 win over Nantes when the two sides meet at the Stade Louis II this weekend.
After being held to a 2-2 home draw to Reims in their Ligue 1 curtain-raiser, ‘Les Monégasques’ picked up a narrow 1-0 away win over Metz to bring a four-game winless league run to a halt, last season included (D3, L1). Going back to early February, all five of Monaco’s top-flight results (wins/losses) have yielded a single-goal margin, with three producing the identical 1-0 scoreline. Niko Kovac’s men are unbeaten in four Ligue 1 home games ahead of this encounter (W2, D2), three of which featured under 2.5 goals. They must be lining up another success here, considering all six of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have resulted in a win.
Meanwhile, the visitors, who have drawn a blank in four of their last five Ligue 1 trips to the principality, also failed to get on the scoresheet on Matchday 1’s trip to Bordeaux. But, away from home in Ligue 1 this calendar year, ‘La Maison Jaune’ have netted over 1.5 goals in four of six matches, scoring at least once in both halves on three of those occasions. Yet, a lack of defensive quality has seen Christian Gourcuff’s men concede two or more goals in three of their last five Ligue 1 trips. Curiously, both of Nantes’ league goals scored this term have arrived before the hour mark.
