Monaco vs Nantes

Ligue 1 runners-up Monaco will play Nantes at Stade Louis II in their final match-up of the 2023/24 campaign.

Monaco’s form has peaked toward the end of the 2023/24 campaign, with six wins in their last seven league outings (L1) cementing their runner-up finish behind PSG with games to spare. That’s as many victories as they had in their 15 Ligue 1 matches beforehand (D5, L4). However, complacency has been Monaco’s Achilles heel in recent years as they’ve won none of their last four season finales (D2, L2), suggesting a mighty finish may not be on the cards after all. If there’s an opponent they’d like to see on the other side, it’s Nantes, a team they’ve not lost to in any of their last 11 H2Hs in Ligue 1 (W7, D4), though the reverse fixture ended 3-3.

Draws haven’t been Nantes’ specialty this season, with only 18% of their matches in Ligue 1 ending level (W9, D6, L18). However, they’ve shared the spoils on their last two league travels to meet Brest and Montpellier, extending their unbeaten run on the road to four games (W2, D2). Given their perennial struggles in the principality, Nantes would probably sign up for another draw before the kick-off, having lost eight of their nine top-flight H2Hs at Stade Louis II since 2014 (D1). Manager Antoine Kombouare is familiar with this opposition, even though his managerial record against Monaco is far from ideal (W6, D10, L13).
