Mexico vs Wales 29/05/18

29 May 2018

After comfortably securing their spot in Russia, Mexico has played five friendly matches, all of them against the European teams, winning three of them, against Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iceland before losing 1-0 to Croatia. The North Americans are now set to face off another European side, with Wales arranged for a trip to Pasadena to meet El Tri at the Rose Bowl Stadium. With Germany, Sweden, and South Korea featuring in their respective World Cup Group F, Juan Carlos Osorio is looking to prepare his team the best he can, and a match against Ryan Giggs’ side is one of those games Mexico needs to achieve an optimal level. Although the Dragons failed to pave their way to the World Cup, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Andy King, and Ashley Williams, they are the team to beat, and El Tricolor will have to be at their best if seeking a positive outcome.

It will be the third meeting between Mexico and Wales, first since 2012 when the North Americans defeated the European side by two goals to nil.

Giggs has picked the 23 players that will make the journey to Pasadena, with Gareth Bale and Ben Woodburn being left out of the squad due to their commitments in the Champions League, while Mexico expected to enter the game at full strength.
