Manchester United welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford for the FA Cup third-round replay, hoping to build success on a goalless draw from the first leg.

Encouraged by a comfortable 4-0 home triumph over Norwich at the weekend, United will be looking to maintain momentum against a side they’ve failed to beat in all five of their previous competitive H2Hs (D3, L2). Interestingly, they’ve opened the scoring in three of those H2Hs but were pegged back in the second half on two of those occasions. But, except for a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City a week ago, the Red Devils have been a force to be reckoned with at home lately. Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have seven of their last ten competitive home matches (D2, L1), scoring two or more goals in eight of those fixtures. They’ve been particularly dangerous in the opening 15 minutes of the second half recently, with eight of their previous 19 home goals scored coming in that period (42%).

As for the visitors, they travel to Old Trafford on a run of four straight games without a win (D2, L2), with all of those fixtures seeing them score one goal or less and keep a clean sheet in the final half an hour of play. Wolves will be desperate to post their elusive first away win over Manchester United in the 21st century after breaking United’s six-game winning run in home H2Hs with a 1-1 draw last season. An indifferent away form (W1, D2, L2) could be throwing a spanner in the works, especially considering they’ve conceded over 1.5 goals in three of their last five road matches. In fact, Wolves’ defensive frailties have seen them keep a blank sheet in just three of 15 competitive away games so far this season.
