Manchester City vs West Ham United 28/02/19
28 February 2019
The Premier League title contenders and one of the most unpredictable English sides go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester United face-off West Ham United.
The hosts have racked up a three-game Premier League ahead of this encounter, closing the gap on Liverpool to just one point. In the period, Pep Guardiola’s men have scored 11 goals, conceding barely one in the process. A more worrying fact for the visitors is that the Citizens secured 13 wins in 14 PL home fixtures, notching a staggering 49 goals on an average of 3.5 goals scored per match. What’s more, the reigning holders are the only team in the English top flight to bag 2+ match goals in every single PL home clash. Meanwhile, just two teams have shipped fewer goals at home than Man City (11), with Guardiola’s players keeping five clean sheets so far.
It will be a daunting prospect for the visitors to pick up points at the Etihad, especially considering they’ve lost nine of their last ten H2H away meetings with Man City across all competitions (W1, L9). The Hammers have failed to wrap up all three points in four consecutive PL games (D2, L2) before beating Fulham 3-1 at home last time out. Another big problem for Manuel Pellegrini is the fact his players have lost three successive PL road clashes with a disastrous -7 goal difference (S0, C7) prior to a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Furthermore, the Irons have lost to both top-six-placed sides they’ve met away from home so far, conceding seven goals while bagging just one in the process.
