Manchester City vs Chelsea 04/03/18
05 March 2018
Following two identical 3-0 victories over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final and the Premier League, Manchester City will host another London giants Chelsea. The Citizens are confident of winning the EPL title as they have sixteen points lead over second-place Manchester United that have beaten Chelsea last weekend at Old Trafford with two goals to one. In addition, City haven’t lost a single home game this season in all competitions, with only Everton managed to leave the Etihad Stadium undefeated. The Blues are currently fifth, trailing Tottenham by just two points, but their chances against the rampant Pep Guardiola’s team seems to be minimal, especially considering their recent defensive displays. Conte’s side has conceded eight goals in the previous three road matches, losing all of them.
Guardiola can’t use Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho, as both are struggling with injuries, while Benjamin Mendy could return to action in late April after undergoing surgery last September. Fabian Delph will also skip the derby due to suspension after being shown a red card against Wigan in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea will travel to Manchester without David Luiz, Ross Barkley, and Tiemoue Bakayoko, all sidelined by injuries although the former Toffees midfielder could be ready after returning to training earlier this week.
