Lyon vs OGC Nice 20/05/18
20 May 2018
A 3-2 defeat to Strasbourg on the road last weekend has ended Lyon’s 7-game winning streak, but the Kids are still occupying third place in the Ligue 1 and in case they manage to beat OGC Nice at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, they are going to get a chance of reaching the Champions League group stage through qualifications. Bruno Génésio’s team have won five consecutive league matches at home, in which they haven’t conceded a single goal while scoring eleven times in the process. On the other hand, after two straight away victories, the Eaglets have failed to win three times in a row, drawing with Angers and Strasbourg and losing to Marseille by two goals to one. Lucien Favre’s side have two points lead over Bordeaux, as they only need a draw against Lyon to secure the Europa League qualifications, but considering how important this game is for the hosts, it’s going to be quite challenging.
Génésio has significant problems with injured players, as Mariano Diaz, Anthony Lopes, Maolida, and Kenny Tete are all struggling with physical difficulties and will probably skip the encounter. As for the visitors, Christophe Jallet is the only player who won’t be available due to a knee injury.
