Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur 28/10/19

28 October 2019

Liverpool will look to maintain an unbeaten start to the Premier League (PL) season when they lock horns with an out-of-sorts Tottenham Hotspurs side at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have hit the ground running in 2019/20, winning eight of their opening league matches before playing out a 1-1 away draw with Manchester United last time out. Again big pre-match favorites, the hosts will be looking to stretch their winning PL home run to 12 straight games when they take on a side they’ve not lost to at home in their last eight PL H2Hs (W5, D3). Virtually unstoppable on home turf, the Reds have netted 2+ match goals in 13 consecutive games at Anfield in all competitions, scoring at least once in both halves in 11 of those fixtures. Still, the Merseyside giants have failed to keep a clean sheet in all four of their PL home outings this term, although no team has shipped fewer league goals than them (7).

Winless in their last two PL outings (D1, L1) Spurs are already lagging behind in the top-four race. Unlike Liverpool, the visitors have experienced all sorts of problems when it comes to their defensive game, having already conceded 13 PL goals thus far. Nine of those goals have come away from home (69.23%), where Spurs failed to pick up a single win from four (D2, L2). In fact, Mauricio Pochettino’s players are winless on the road in ten PL fixtures (D2, L8), with their last away triumph dating back to late January. Eight matches during that above sequence have seen Tottenham concede at least two goals while four saw them draw a blank.
