Liverpool vs Crystal Palace 25/06/20
25 June 2020
Liverpool’s pursuit of their first league title in 30 years continues this midweek, as they welcome in-form Crystal Palace to Anfield, looking to bring their winning run in Premier League H2Hs to six games.
Four of Liverpool’s last six league matches have produced a goalless first half, although two such fixtures subsequently contained over 2.5 total goals. Runaway Premier League leaders remain the only side to win all 15 of their league home clashes this season, with nine of those successes yielding a margin of at least two goals. Furthermore, Jurgen Klopp’s men have netted over 1.5 goals in each of their five Premier League home wins since the turn of the year, finding the opening goal in five of them. Also, free-scoring Liverpool scored in both halves in nine of 15 league home games this term (the division’s high), which has also been true in 50% (15) of their 30 Premier League fixtures.
Crystal Palace’s winning league run now stands at four after picking up a 2-0 away victory over Bournemouth at the weekend. Each of their four wins during that period saw Palace keep a clean sheet, with three yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline. Indeed, the Eagles are used to tight matches as five of their last six league wins have been by a one-goal margin, while the same is true of four of their six previous Premier League defeats. Subsequently, six of their last seven Premier League games contained under 2.5 goals. Although they’ve found the opener in just 40% (six) of their 15 Premier League away games, the visitors have opened the scoring in four of their last six road trips (W2, D2, L2). Four of those six trips also saw both teams on the scoresheet.
