Liverpool vs Burnley 11/07/20
11 July 2020
Liverpool will look to post a fifth consecutive Premier League victory over Burnley when the two sides lock horns at Anfield this weekend.
The new-crowned champions have won three of their last four Premier League fixtures (L1), with all of those results (win/loss) yielding a full-time margin of two goals or more. Additionally, the winner on the day across those games has regularly scored precisely two goals in one half, which has been true in all five of Liverpool’s previous Premier League home wins. In fact, the Reds remain the only English side to boast a 100% home record going into this round (W17), with 11 of those successes producing a margin of over 1.5 goals. Jurgen Klopp must be aiming at another victory now, as the Merseyside giants won all but one of their five top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (D1).
On the other hand, the visitors have been a tough team to beat lately, as they’ve lost only one of their last 11 Premier League fixtures (W7, D4), shutting out their opponents on seven of those occasions. But, even they’ve picked up four wins from their six previous top-flight trips (D1, L1), it will be a daunting prospect for Burnley to pull off another success here. The Clarets have suffered three defeats in their four trips to the current top-five sides (W1), conceding over 1.5 goals in each of those failures, while scoring just one in total. Also, if they ship the opener here, as they did in eight of 17 Premier League away matches this season, Sean Dyche’s men are unlikely to get away with points- Burnley lost six such fixtures so far (D2).
