Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion 13/05/18

13 May 2018

Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield has opened the path for Liverpool to formally secure Champions League football for the next season, as the Reds are set to host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield this weekend. The Merseysiders have gone through a minor league crisis over the last couple of weeks, mainly because of their commitments in the Champions League, considering they’ve only won one out of last five matches in the Premier League. As for the visitors a 3-1 loss to Manchester City last weekend has extended their awful away streak to twelve consecutive games and looking at their recent performance, it’s hard to expect the things would change after this encounter. However, the Seagulls are going to play in the English top flight next season after demonstrating character and stubbornness throughout the season, and they could enter the match relaxed, which might represent a problem for the hosts. Still, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won four games at home in a row before drawing 0-0 with Stoke, and Liverpool fans expect another routine victory especially after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, and Joel Matip are all set to skip the encounter due to injuries, while Chris Hughton still can’t count on Steve Sidwell, who missed the most of the season because of a back injury.
