Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion 30/11/19
30 November 2019
Liverpool will be looking to improve on their performance following a 1-1 home draw with Napoli in the Champions League when they entertain Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield this weekend.
Except for a 1-1 away draw with Manchester United, the hosts have won all 12 of their remaining Premier League (PL) fixtures so far, including the last four. Interestingly, three of their previous four league triumphs have come via the same 2-1 scoreline, with two of them seeing the Reds concede the opener in the first half and turn things around after the break. Also, all six of Liverpool’s PL home wins this term have seen them concede precisely one goal, with half of those victories (3) coming by the identical 3-1 scoreline. Again big pre-match favorites, the Merseyside giants will be looking to maintain a 100% home record in competitive H2Hs with Brighton since the turn of the new millennium (W3), and keep second-placed Leicester on an eight-point distance.
The visitors’ dip in form has seen them go from back-to-back PL wins to two straight defeats, both of which have come against teams from the upper half of the table and saw them go down by a two-goal margin. Arguably, one of the weakest away sides in England’s top-tier competition, the Seagulls have returned just four points from six PL road trips this season (W1, D1, L4). They have suffered three consecutive PL away losses ahead of this clash, allowing 2+ match goals in each. Moreover, only five of their total 15 PL goals scored so far have come away from home (33%), with Graham Potter’s team drawing a blank in three of the last five road games.
