Liverpool vs Arsenal 25/08/19
25 August 2019
Saturday’s Premier League (PL) action ends with a massive, heavyweight clash at Anfield as Liverpool take on bitter rivals Arsenal.
Last season’s PL runners-up have been ruthless at the beginning of the new league campaign, beating Norwich City 4-1 at home before clinching a tight 2-1 away triumph over Southampton. Both of those games have seen the Reds leading at the halftime break and find the net in the final five minutes of the first half. Liverpool’s astonishing home form since the turn of the year has seen them win nine of ten PL home fixtures (W9, D1), all of which have witnessed the Merseyside giants score 2+ match goals. Backed by a run of impressive form, the reigning Champions Leauge holders now look to post their fourth consecutive home win over Arsenal and at the same time stretch their unbeaten home streak in H2Hs to seven games (W4, D2).
Meanwhile, along with Liverpool, the visitors are the only side to secure back-to-back wins at the beginning of the 2019/20 PL season. Both of Arsenal’s league wins this term have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with the Gunners scoring a winner midway point through the second period on both occasions. A 1-0 away win over Newcastle United in the PL opener means that Unai Emery’s men have now kept a clean sheet in just two of their ten PL trips since the turn of the year. Uncomfortable when on the road, the North Londoners have won just four of those ten games (W4, D1, L5), and none of those triumphs have arrived against teams from the upper half of the 2018/19 PL table.
