Lithuania vs Portugal 11/09/19
11 September 2019
Lithuania and Portugal go head-to-head at the LFF stadionas for their UEFA European Championship qualifying (ECQ) fixture.
Rock-bottom hosts have managed just one draw in the opening four qualifiers (D1, L3), with three of those games witnessing goals on both ends. Two of their last ECQ defeats have, however, come by a three-goal margin, with Lithuania conceding at least two goals before the halftime whistle on both occasions. Another potential worry for the home fans is that Lithuania failed to pick up a win in all eight of their previous competitive home outings (D1, L7). They have not only struggled to hit the net in half of those games (4), but they’ve also allowed over 1.5 match goals five times in that period.
As for the visitors, they go into this fixture off the back of a stunning 4-2 away win over Serbia last time out, which is so far their only win in Group B (W1, D2). Each of Portugal’s ECQ draws has featured under 2.5 goals, and both have come on home turf. Notably, since exiting the World Cup, A Seleção das Quinas have won three of four away games (W3, D1), with all of those triumphs seeing them score three or more goals and concede at least one. Additionally, they’ve pulled off six wins in their last seven competitive trips (W6, D1), preserving a clean slate five times in the process.
