Levante vs Valencia 08/12/19
8 December 2019
The two sides that have had identical returns from their last two La Liga (LL) matches (W1, L1) go head-to-head at the Estadi Ciutat de València, as Levante take on Valencia.
None of Levante’s last eight LL fixtures has ended in a draw (W4, L4), with six of those results (win/loss) during that period coming via a single-goal margin. Also, half of those matches (4) have finished with the identical 2-1 scoreline (W3, L1), with the Frogs breaking the deadlock in all four. But, the hosts’ problems to maintain consistency on home turf have seen them win in sequences. After winning the opening two LL home matches, they’ve struggled to pick up a victory in the subsequent three home outings (D2, L1) only to secure back-to-back triumphs in the build-up to this match. If Paco Lopez’s men win here, it will probably see them get on the scoresheet at least twice, given that all four of their LL home successes so far saw them score two or more goals.
Like Levante, Valencia’s recent league matches have been determined with the same 2-1 scoreline, as three of their last four LL games came via that exact score (W2, L1). But, Los Ches have failed to impress away from home recently, picking up just one triumph in their previous four LL road trips (W1, D1, L2). Interestingly, all of those above games have seen Valencia’s defense break down in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Traveling across town to meet city rivals has proved to be quite challenging for the Oranges lately, as they’ve failed to clinch a victory in all six of their previous top-flight trips to Levante (D2, L4). Frustratingly for the visitors, they’ve struggled to find the net in three of those clashes, scoring over 1.5 match goals only once in the remaining three.
