Levante vs Girona 05/01/19

05 January 2019

Two struggling sides go head-to-head at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia as Levante look to welcome Girona hoping to end a three-game winless run in La Liga.

After playing out a 4-4 draw with Eibar, the Frogs have lost back-to-back league games, conceding seven goals while scoring just one in the process. A notable drop-off in form has seen Paco Lopez’s team securing barely one win in their last seven league encounters. Levante’s defensive frailties have seen them concede in six out of their previous eight La Liga clashes, allowing a minimum of one goal per match five times in the run. What’s more, their tally of 32 conceded goals is the second-worst, as only dead-last Huesca allowed more goals than Levante so far. The Frogs usually go all-out at home, having not seen a draw in their last seven competitive matches (W4, D3). They’ve scored at least two goals per match five times in this period but did allow at least three goals per game three times.

Meanwhile, the visitors are looking to bring a two-game road losing streak to an end as Eusebio Sacristan hope to see his players bouncing back from three successive failures (D1, L2). Six teams collected more points than Girona (12) on the road this term as the Blanquivermell won three out of eight away meetings while suffering two defeats in the process. However, they’ve failed to score on three of their five road La Liga trips, with four of them ending under 2.5 goals. Just three of Girona’s eight road matches produced over 2.5 goals, with the Gironistes keeping a clean sheet on three occasions so far.
