Leicester City vs Manchester City 26/12/18
26 December 2018
Leicester City and Manchester City will face-off at the King Power Stadium for the second time in a short sequence, as the hosts hope to bounce back from a disappointing 3-2 home loss to Crystal Palace.
The two met at the same venue less than ten days ago in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, with the Citizens going past the Foxes after a penalty shoot-out.
Leicester’s three-game Premier League winless run (D1, L2) ended last weekend when they’ve walked away from Stamford Bridge with all three points registering a 1-0 win over Chelsea. The Foxes’ main problem this season relates to their consistency issues, as they’ve struggled to achieve back-to-back league wins since late August. What’s more, Claude Puel’s men have secured just one triumph in their last four home outings in the Premier League, being held twice while suffering a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Leicester’s problems in the final third have seen the score one goal or less in six out of their previous seven home games across all competitions.
With Liverpool topping the table with a four-point lead over Man City, Pep Guardiola’s players have to wrap up all three points to keep up the pace with Jurgen Klopp’s crew. The reigning holders are going through a minor crisis considering they’ve lost two out of their last three Premier League matches while securing just one win in the process. Furthermore, the Citizens have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight consecutive encounters in all competitions, conceding a minimum of two goals per match three times during that period. However, their tally of 50 scored goals in the opening 18 EPL outings is a league’s high, with Man City scoring a minimum of two goals per match 14 times so far.
