Leicester City vs Manchester City 23/02/20
23 February 2020
Leicester City will be desperate to end Manchester City’s two-game winning run in the Premier League (PL) H2Hs when the two sides lock horns at the King Power Stadium this weekend.
The hosts are not enjoying the best of times, having secured just one win in their previous five top-flight outings (D2, L2). Yet, four of those matches have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, with Leicester breaking the deadlock on three of those occasions. The King Power Stadium has been something of a fortress for the majority of the season, but Leicester’s drop-off in form has seen them lose two of their last four PL fixtures here (W1, D1). Not exactly the fastest home starters, the Foxes have allowed the opening goal (if any) in six of 13 PL games here (46.15%). However, they’ve rescued more home points than any other side in England’s top division (13), winning three of six home games in which they’ve shipped the opener (D2, L1).
The visitors eased past West Ham in their midweek’s PL showdown to give a proper response to a dismal 2-0 away loss to Tottenham and preserve a four-point lead on third-placed Leicester. But, the reigning English champions have failed to show consistency when away from home lately, winning three of their last five league road fixtures while losing the other two. Yet, Pep Guardiola’s men tend to win with some dignity when they do so, as seven of their eight PL away triumphs yielded a margin of at least two goals. Indeed, no team has recorded more away goals than City (34) so far this season, with precisely half of them (17) coming in the first half (league high). Moreover, quicksilver Citizens have opened the scoring in ten of their 13 PL road trips thus far (77%), failing to keep the lead only twice (D1, L1).
