Leicester City vs Crystal palace 04/07/20

04 July 2020

Leicester City will try to post a second successive Premier League win over Crystal Palace when the two sides lock horns at the King Power Stadium this weekend.

Leicester’s hopes of landing a top-four finish have been compromised after the hosts picked up only one victory from their last nine Premier League fixtures (D4, L4). A recent lack of goals is accountable to the Foxes’ dip in form, as Brendan Rodgers’ side drew a blank in four of their seven previous league matches, scoring precisely once per game in two of the other three. As a consequence, Leicester enter the round just three points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United and are in a desperate need for points against a side they’ve lost to in both of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this stadium. If they score here, as they did in three of five Premier League home games this calendar year, the Foxes are likely to do that after the break. In fact, 70% (21) of their 30 league home goals scored this season came in the second half of play.

As for the visitors, they’ve gone from four consecutive Premier League triumphs to back-to-back defeats, with each of those six results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. The Eagles are used to tight contests, as six of their last nine Premier League trips have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W2, D4, L3). Palace’s away action usually bursts into life after the halftime break, as the majority (58.97%) of their league goals (scored/conceded) on the road this campaign arrived in the second 45 minutes (23/39). Arguably one of the division’s slowest away starters, Roy Hodgson’s players have found the net inside the opening 15 minutes of play in just one of 16 Premier League road trips so far.
