Leicester City vs Crystal Palace 24/02/19
24 February 2019
A struggling Leicester City team host an in-form Crystal Palace to the King Power Stadium searching for a way out of a crisis.
A poor haul of just one point in their last five Premier League outings (D1, L4) has seen Leicester City tumbling down to 12th place. Considering they currently sit eight points clear of the relegation-threatened Southampton, and with 12 fixtures left, the Foxes have to start thinking about their elite status. The King Power Stadium is not the fortress Leicester fans would have hoped for this season (W4, D2, L6) with Claude Puel’s men suffering three successive PL home defeats, scoring just one goal in the process. Moreover, six of Leicester’s last eight PL home clashes have produced under 2.5 goals, with Puel’s players failing to find the back of the net on four occasions in that period.
Meanwhile, the visitors are unbeaten in all five of their previous games across all competitions (W3, D2), with all three of their last wins ending with the identical 2-0 scoreline. However, the Glaziers are still fighting relegation, sitting just three points above 18th-placed Southampton. A potential worry for Roy Hodgson ahead of this trip is the fact his players have already suffered seven defeats in 13 PL road encounters, also failing to pick up all three points in their last two away meetings (D1, L1). Crystal Palace’s recent problems have been closely related to poor defending that has seen them concede 2+ match goals in five of their previous eight PL road clashes. But, in the same period, the Eagles have notched over 1.5 goals per match four times, failing to hit the net just once in the sequence.
