Leicester City vs Aston Villa 10/03/20
10 March 2020
Leicester City and Aston Villa will both look to find a way out of their respective crises when they lock horns at the King Power Stadium this weekend.
The hosts are winless in four straight Premier League (PL) matches (D2, L2), failing to find the net in the last three, with both of their defeats in that stretch yielding the same 1-0 scoreline. At home, things don’t look good either, as the Foxes managed just one win in five of their previous PL fixtures at the King Power Stadium (D1, L3). Three of those five games produced over 3.5 goals, with the majority (70.59%) of the total goals (scored/conceded) coming in the second half of play (12/17). In turn, the Foxes have netted most of their PL home goals after the break, as 69% (18) of their 26 PL goals scored here arrived in the second 45 minutes. An action could come late here, too, considering eight of Leicester’s 14 PL home matches featured at least one goal inside the final 15 minutes of play.
Meanwhile, three consecutive league defeats have shipped Aston Villa back to the relegation zone, as they trail 17th-placed Watford by two points ahead of the kick-off. Each of those three losses saw Villa concede precisely one goal before the 40-minute mark and at least two in total. Also, the visitors’ tally of ten defeats in 14 PL away games this season (W2, D2) is the league’s joint-worst, with the Lions allowing over 1.5 goals in each of their five previous trips to the sides currently occupying top-five spots. Dean Smith’s men have not only shipped more PL away goals than any other team (28), but they are also the only side yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this term. That’s mainly because of their lapses in concentration after the break that saw 71% (20) of their 28 away goals conceded come in the second half of play.
