Leganes vs Valencia 13/07/20
13 July 2020
Relegation-threatened Leganes welcome Valencia to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, going after their first-ever win in the La Liga H2Hs (D3, L4).
Leganes’ hopes of avoiding relegation have been compromised after the hosts pulled off just one win from their last eight La Liga games (D3, L4), as they enter the round trailing 17th-placed Alaves by six points. Massive problems in the final third have seen Los Pepineros draw a blank in half (four) of those eight fixtures and score precisely once per match in the other four. In fact, Leganes’ haul of 25 goals netted in 35 La Liga outings remains the league’s worst, with Javier Aguirre’s men managing a miserable average of 0.71 goals scored per encounter. Particularly ponderous in the attack before the break, Leganes have bagged the division’s second-low ten goals in the first half of play.
On the other hand, the visitors seem to be on their way of overcoming a slight crisis that had seen them suffer three La Liga losses in a row, as they take the field after avoiding defeat in back-to-back league matches (W1, D1). Curiously, all six of Valencia’s previous La Liga losses have seen Los Ches draw a blank, with five producing a full-time margin of two goals or more. Albert Celades’ men now travel to Leganes seeking an elusive first La Liga away win in 2020 (D2, L6), with five of their defeats since the turn of the year seeing Valencia fail to find the back of the net. But, the ‘Bats’ must be relishing the prospect of facing Leganes at this point, given that they’ve won three of four competitive trips to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque (D1).
