Leganes vs Eibar 27/01/19

27 January 2019

A poor haul of just six points in as many matches has seen Leganes dropping down the table, as they now chase a positive outcome against Eibar at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque hoping to prevent a potential slip to the relegation zone.

Although they’ve lost three of their last five competitive outings (W2, L3), Los Pepineros are unbeaten in the previous five home outings across all competitions (W3, D2). But, none of Leganes’ nine LL home games have seen a scoreline with a margin (either way) of two goals or more, with three of Leganes’ four LL home triumphs ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline. Enormous problems in attack but stubborn backline displays have resulted in only two of their nine LL home outings producing over 2.5 goals. Goals have been at a premium for Leganes this season, but things have gone from bad to worse over the past few months. Mauricio Pellegrino’s men have scored one goal or less in nine consecutive games in all competitions, allowing over 1.5 goals per match twice in the process.

After playing out five successive draws across all competitions, Eibar’s last two encounters have ended with the identical 3-0 scoreline, with one going in their favor. Winless in their previous six competitive road clashes (D2, L4), the Azulgranas seem unable to overcome their immense attacking problems. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men have scored just one goal on their last six road trips, as their tally of five goals scored in nine LL road meetings remains a league joint-lowest. Only Huesca (4) have collected fewer points away from home than Eibar (6), with the Gunsmiths looking far more comfortable playing in front of the local crowd (19). Eibar’s inability to keep a clean sheet has seen them concede in eight of nine LL road clashes, allowing over 1.5 goals per match four times in the process.

All of the six H2H meetings in La Liga between these two have produced under 2.5 goals, with just one ended with both teams hitting the net.
