Leganes vs Barcelona 23/11/19

23 November 2019

La Liga (LL) toppers Barcelona travel to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque to take on dead-last Leganes.

Having pulled off just one win in the opening 13 rounds of LL fixtures (W1, D3, L9), the hosts are nailed to the bottom of the table with a seven-point deficit on 17th-placed Real Betis. Unsurprisingly, four of Leganes’ six LL points have come on home turf, with their only league triumph arriving against 16th-placed Mallorca. Four of their five LL home defeats have come via a single-goal margin, although just two have seen them trail at the halftime break. Also, Leganes’ haul of seven goals places them as league’s joint-worst attacking side, as they remain one of two teams that have yet to score more than one goal per LL fixture this term. The only consolation for Los Pepineros is that they’ve found the net in all four of their previous LL home matches.

Meanwhile, the visitors go into this encounter on the back of a 4-1 home win over Celta Vigo that has helped them stay at the top of the league table. However, it has been ‘all or nothing’ for Barcelona on the road recently (W2, L2). While both of those defeats witnessed them go down via a two-goal margin, both of their triumphs in that sequence seen them win both halves to nil. Still, far more comfortable at home, the Catalans have bagged just eight of their total 33 LL goals scored on the road (24%), drawing a blank in two of six league trips so far. Also, the reigning champions have lost 2-1 in their last visit to this venue, halting a two-game winning LL away streak in H2Hs with Leganes.
