Lecce vs Juventus 26/10/19
26 October 2019
Juventus travel to the Stadio Via del Mare to take on Lecce looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the Serie A (SA) season (W7, D1).
The newly-promoted Lecce are still chasing their elusive first top-flight home points, having lost all three of their SA home outings this term. Two of those defeats have come via the identical 1-0 scoreline after a goalless first half, as the hosts remain on a single goal scored at home so far – league’s lowest tally. Also, only one team has shipped more SA goals than Lecce (17) this season, with Fabio Liverani’s men allowing over 1.5 match goals in four of eight SA games. What’s more, the Salentians have failed to pick up a single point in four clashes against top-six sides, conceding 12 goals while scoring just two across those fixtures. Such a record is unlikely to change now, as ‘I Giallorossi’ face a team they’ve lost to in four of their last seven top-flight H2Hs here (W1, D2).
Meanwhile, the visitors have racked up a five-game winning SA streak ahead of this trip, as they’ve leapfrogged Inter to reclaim the top spot. Interestingly, four triumphs within that above sequence have come via the same 2-1 scoreline with the perennial champions coming from behind to secure three points on all of those occasions. Curiously, the Bianconeri have opened the scoring only once in four SA trips so far, although they’ve come out on top by a single-goal margin three times (W3, D1). But, Maurizio Sarri can’t complain about his team’s ability to score goals, as Juventus netted 2+ match goals in nine of 11 games in all competitions this term.
