Lazio vs Olympique de Marseille 09/11/18
09 November 2018
In the Europa League Group H, Lazio will host Olympique de Marseille at the Stadio Olimpico, hoping to make a decisive step towards the round of 16 promotion.
The Biancocelesti have utterly outplayed the French side at the Stade Velodrome, having captured a significant 3-1 victory, as they currently occupy the second place in their respective group, with a 3-point deficit to Eintracht Frankfurt. The Serie A giants have wrapped up a tight 2-1 triumph over Apollon Limassol on the opening matchday, after which they’ve suffered a nightmarish 4-1away defeat to Frankfurt. Simone Inzaghi’s players have clinched four wins in the previous five games across all competitions, having lost to Inter Milan in the process. However, the Rome-based outfit failed to keep a clean sheet in the previous three matches, which may be their principal problem in the forthcoming encounter.
As for the visitors, they’ve suffered two straight Ligue 1 defeats, to Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier, without scoring a single goal, as Rudi Garcia urges his forwards to step up their game. With a record of one draw and two losses, the Phocaeans are trailing Lazio by five points, as they face a must-win trip to the Italian capital. The Olympians have played out a 2-2 draw with Apollon and lost to Frankfurt at home by two goals to one, which makes the French giants the worst defensive side in their respective group. Not only Marseille failed to keep a clean sheet in the opening three games, but they’ve allowed a minimum of two goals in each of those matches.
