Lazio vs Cremonese 15/01/20
15 January 2020
High-flying Lazio entertain the Serie B outfit Cremonese in the Coppa Italia round of 16 at the Stadio Olimpico this midweek.
Lazio have continued their unstoppable run in domestic competitions with a narrow 1-0 home triumph over Napoli, extending their winning streak in Italy to 11 straight games. Additionally, the hosts have now won all five of their last competitive home matches, with three of those successes being accompanied by a clean sheet. Also, they have opened the scoring inside the opening half an hour in five of their previous seven home fixtures in all competitions, finding the net before the halftime in one of the other two. Huge favorites to advance to the quarter-finals, the Biancocelesti might kick Cromenese out without conceding a goal, considering they’ve kept a blank sheet in six of 12 home games so far this season, although allowing over 1.5 goals in three of the other six.
Meanwhile, the visitors are not enjoying the best of times, having won just two of their previous seven competitive matches (D3, L2). Notably, six of those seven fixtures have featured under 2.5 goals, with three of their four results (win/loss) during that seven-game sequence coming via the identical 1-0 scoreline. A lack of goals, especially when they play away from home, could be Cremonese’s main setback in their efforts to pull off a miracle in Rome. Indeed, they have not only failed to pick up a single win in their last eight road trips (D3, L5), but they’ve drawn a blank on five of those occasions, scoring precisely one goal per match on the other three. Moreover, each of their previous seven away games has featured less than three goals, with just two of them seeing both teams score.
