Lazio vs AC Milan 05/07/20

05 July 2020

Lazio and AC Milan go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend in what might as well be a low-scoring Serie A contest. Indeed, six of their previous seven competitive H2Hs have featured under 2.5 goals.

One of two sides yet to lose at home this season (W12, D3), the hosts take the field after racking up three consecutive Serie A home triumphs, all of which saw them score precisely two goals per game. Indeed, free-scoring Lazio have netted over 1.5 goals in 12 of 15 league home outings this season, managing a league-high average of 2.73 goals scored per home match. But, a lackadaisical first-half attitude has seen 72.73% (eight) of the 11 Serie A home goals conceded so far come before the halftime break. The ‘Biancocelesti’ seem highly unlikely to keep a clean sheet here, given that they’ve conceded at least once in each of their last seven top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W3, D3, L1).

Meanwhile, the visitors head to the capital on a run of three Serie A fixtures without a loss (W2, D1), all of which saw Milan score over 1.5 second-half goals. In fact, the majority (71.43%) of the 21 league away goals the ‘Rossoneri’ have scored this campaign came after the break (15). However, Stefano Pioli’s men have struggled to impress away from home lately, picking up only one win from their last four Serie A road trips (D2, L1), with three of those clashes seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Notably, though, nine of Milan’s 13 league away results (win/loss) this term have produced a single-goal margin (W7, L6), with five of them yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline.
