Juventus vs Torino 04/05/19

4 May 2019

Two of Turin’s most prominent football clubs go head-to-head for the 200th competitive Derby della Mole, as Juventus welcome Torino to the Allianz Stadium.

Having already claimed their eighth successive Serie A title, the hosts go into this meeting off the back of a 1-1 road draw with Inter Milan last time out. Remaining the only team that has yet to lose at home this term(W15, D2), the reigning Serie A holders have racked up a five-game SA home winning run in the build-up to this meeting. Notably, eight of the Bianconeri’s 15 SA home triumphs have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with only Inter allowing fewer goals at home than Juve (11) this campaign. Massimiliano Allegri’s men were lethal in the final third in 2019, scoring 2+ match goals in six of seven SA home outings since the turn of the year. What’s more, Juventus have won ten of their last 13 competitive home H2H clashes with Torino (W10, D3), preventing the Bull from scoring eight times in the process.

Meanwhile, the visitors’ record of three wins and three draws from their last six SA games has brought them just three points below fourth-placed Atalanta, with four league fixtures left to go. Torino’s defense has proved to be almost impenetrable in 2019 considering they’ve kept eight clean sheets in 14 SA games since the turn of the year, allowing over 1.5 match goals just twice along the way. Interestingly, 70.59% of the Bull’s league away games have ended in a draw (12 of 17), with Walter Mazzarri’s men suffering just one defeat on the road for the entire campaign (W4, D12, L1). However, for the Maroons, goals have been at a premium when playing away from home, with Torino netting 2+ match goals on just five of 17 SA road trips so far.
