Juventus vs Napoli 05/10/20

5 October 2020

Arguably the most anticipated fixture on this weekend’s Serie A schedule will take place at the Allianz Stadium as Juventus face Napoli in a real clash of titans.

After dismantling Sampdoria 3-0 at home in their Serie A curtain-raiser, the hosts have failed to translate that form on Matchday 2, playing out a 2-2 away draw with Roma. Yet, the Allianz Stadium has been a fortress over the past two-and-a-half years, as the reigning champions suffered just one defeat in 39 Serie A matches held in Turin since the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign (W32, D6, L1). The ‘Bianconeri’ often tend to shut out their visitors, as 50% of their home league wins were ‘to nil’ back in 2019/20. But, it will be challenging for Juventus to achieve that here, as they meet a side they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet against in five of their last six top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W5, L1).

Meanwhile, the visitors have got off to a flying Serie A start, winning both of their opening league matches without conceding once. Far more aggressive after half-time, Gennaro Gattuso’s men have racked up a vast majority (87.5%) of their Serie A goals scored so far in the second half of play (7/8). In turn, 63.33% of Napoli’s away league goals netted back last season arrived after the break (19/30). Also, the ‘Partenopei’ are almost impossible to recover against once on the front foot, having won five of six Serie A trips in which they were leading at half-time back last season. Often a well-disciplined group, Napoli have received just two yellow cards this season and were the least-punished side in the Italian top-flight in 2019/20 (74 yellow cards).
