Juventus vs Hellas Verona 22/09/19

22 September 2019

Juventus will entertain Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium this weekend in what seems to be a routine task for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Although rocked by a thrilling 2-2 away draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League opener that saw them blow a two-goal lead in the final 20 minutes, the Bianconeri will look to stretch their home winning run over Hellas Verona in all competitions to ten games. Before being held to a goalless away draw by Fiorentina, the reigning SA holders have put together two league triumphs, both of which have seen the beam their rivals by a narrow one-goal margin. The Allianz Stadium has been a fortress ever since Napoli won 1-0 here back in April 2018, with Juventus winning 18 out of the subsequent 22 SA home games (W18, D4). Interestingly, the Old Lady’s defensive wall collapsed in their last five SA home outings, conceding over 1.5 match goals only once though.

Meanwhile, the returnees have picked up a little bit of everything from the opening three SA fixtures (W1, D1, L1), as they go into this encounter off the back of a narrow 1-0 home loss to AC Milan. The Mastiffs have beaten Lecce on the road in the same fashion after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Bologna in the SA curtain-raiser. Hellas’ indifferent road form in 2019 suggests they have a little to hope for here, as they’ve secured only four wins in 12 competitive trips since the turn of the year (W4, D3, L5). Four of those defeats have seen them concede two or more goals while they’ve struggled to find the back of the net in four too.
