Juventus vs AC Milan 05/03/20

5 March 2020

A 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture gives Juventus and AC Milan everything to play for going into the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie that will take place at the Allianz Stadium this week.

The hosts have won only three of their seven competitive fixtures over the past five weeks (D1, L3), as they go into this clash on the back of a 1-0 loss to Lyon in the UEFA Champions League. Four of their six results (win/loss) during that seven-game sequence came via a single-goal margin, with three producing the identical 2-1 scoreline. However, the perennial Serie A champions have won all six of their previous home matches, scoring over 1.5 goals in each and keeping a clean sheet in four. Juventus seem likely to maintain their impressive home form now; as they take on a Milan side they’ve beaten in all ten of their previous H2Hs held here.

Meanwhile, Milan’s strong start to the new calendar year (W5, D1) has been fading away in the recent period, with the Rossoneri picking up just one win in their last five outings (D3, L1). The visitors’ drop-off in form has coincided with a lack of goals – Stefano Pioli’s men have scored precisely one goal per match in four of their five previous fixtures. Interestingly, before being held to a 1-1 draw to Fiorentina, none of Milan’s 12 away matches prior had ended in a draw (W6, L6). The majority (75%) of those results yielded a narrow one-goal margin (9/12), with five producing the identical 1-0 scoreline.
