Jordan vs Australia 15/11/19

15 November 2019

Jordan continue their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying (WCQ) campaign at the Amman International Stadium against odds-on favorites Australia.

The hosts have a chance to claim the top spot in Group B, as they are lagging two points behind section-toppers Australia ahead of the kick-off. Aside from a goalless home draw with Kuwait, the Chivalrous have won both of their remaining WCQ matches, with both producing over 2.5 goals. In his pursuit of all three points, Vital Borkelmans can also rely on a rock-solid defense that has kept a blank sheet in three of their last outings, friendlies included. Furthermore, Jordan have come off better in both of their previous competitive home H2H meetings with Australia, scoring two goals apiece while conceding one in total.

Meanwhile, the visitors are setting the pace in Group B, having clinched all three triumphs in the qualifying so far. The Socceroos have not only shipped just one goal ahead of this trip, but they’ve also netted 15 already – more than any other nation in the Asian WCQ. Graham Arnold’s men tend to kill the game off already in the first half, having taken a three-goal lead into halftime in each of their previous WCQ fixtures. Also, the Australians have won four of five road trips since exiting the 2018 FIFA World Cup, friendlies included (L1). While that only failure saw them draw a blank, each of their four triumphs in that sequence has witnessed them score at least three goals and concede one or less.
